Forcing It.

I wasn't feeling very well yesterday. A touch of the bug going around the house and I forced myself to create anyway. This card is living proof that was a unwise choice. tee hee. OMG this thing is terrible. I can't tell you how much I dislike this card and yet the receiver will love it. My G.F. will get this card in a day or two as I sent it out today.
I know you guys are probably thinking then why show it? Well I do believe that this blog is a creative process just like the things I create. To show my bad work as well as the okay is a learning process. The good works will stand out more and by doing what is really painful, teach me what to work towards. Does that make any sense at all? Or are my ramblings understandable to me alone?

I do like the cut outs on the card and the black card stock by Bassill. That is about it. I think maybe the golden colors are just not for me or maybe just this combination. I will pick up this stamp again at some point and try again. It is gonna be awhile as at this moment it is really painful. AHHHHHHHHHH!

Okay girls I told you I would share a recipe. I made Smothered Steak in the crock last week and it is yummy.

  1. What are you on about, PJ?! ;) It's an elegant card! But I know what you mean - I look at some of my atrocious cards and wonder if I can even give them away! But someone always seems to like them - beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that!

I have built up quite a lot of stock over the years - my hubby hasn't been happy with my craft expenditure!! Instead of buying expensive patterned paper, I'm going to focus on getting those little cheap ink pads and stamps that will let me create my own background papers - much more cost efficient! In my first couple of years of crafting, I saved up Xmas money and then had a whale of time shopping in the numerous website sales in January - a great way to stock up!

Another cheaper way is to buy downloadable digi stamps and papers. Pink Petticoat http://www.pinkpetticoat.co.uk does some lovely contemporary images and papers at great prices. My fav The Greeting Farm does digi downloads too of some beautiful images http://thegreetingfarm.com/shop/index.php/digital.html

If there's anything specific you want to stock up on, let me know and I'll see if I know a good stockist! *speak* soon!

  3. Thank you Mary J. I still don't like it and afraid at the moment to try and create again after that card. I will have to suck it up at some point. Gonna try a new technique. That should help.
I think I will have to think about background stamps. The paper is cheap but ink is not on the kind you print yourself. That runs into too much for me. Cheaper to buy paper that way for me with my printer.
I will just have to learn to create with what I have and buy only what I really, really love.
    Have a wonderful week.
