Color challenge

Okay, I realized today that I don't really know the rules to these color challenges. So are you supposed to use only the colors given? Or can you add another color? Are there any set rules or is it just what ever and fun the whole way. Help a new gal out will ya?

So the color challenge picture came from Lilybean's Paperie again, but you knew that. I love the pictures she uses and her cards are TDF. I was inspired by this combo that I personally would never had put together. It was a challenge the whole way for me. The colors as well as making a card after that last mess that I made. I was determined to do it though and in the end am happy as can be with my card. It is really sweet.

I used Papertrey Inks Vintage Cream for the base. Bazzill, chocolate brown for the mat. The polka dot is from the bottom of the stash pile, from K&Company. Love this paper. I used it upside down. More polka dots that way. Pale olive dot is from Making Memories Falala line. The blue mat framing the bunny is from My Minds Eye I believe. Didn't remember to write it down. The bunny is a fabric iron on. From Etsy. I ironed it onto cotton fabric I had in a basket. Trimmed it and sewed to the card stock. First time sewing onto a card so that was neat. The seam binding from Etsy. Flowers are from Prima Nursery Collection. A little bit of glimmer mist for sparkle on the flower. Brad from Making Memories. I think that is about it.

Melissa, the best present I ever got was a bread machine. I will have to see if that oat honey recipe can be made in the machine. Sounds yummy and it could knead the dough for me at least. I have bad hands from arthritis. Oh to be young like you;).
I am off to finish another card. Have a few birthdays this month.

  1. Helo PJ! What a wonderful card - so soft and feminine! I know what you mean about challenges - I never know the rules either so I tend to stick very rigidly to them, which can be really difficult! I think though most challenges are quite flexible and I'm sure they don't mind replacements as long as the colours are quite close - otherwise you would need to own your craft shop to have everything at hand, lol!!!

Yum, a bread machine - I want one!

  2. I agree about the challenges. Sometimes you just aren't sure. Sometimes they will tell you that you can add in a neutral color such as creme or white. But just like Mary J said I try to stick as close to the challenge specifics as I can. If I am too off on the colors, I just skip it. But it is supposed to be fun, right? I love the colors for your challenge card. Great job. I'm going to check out your challenge site, Thanks. Well, here's to fun!...

  3. Thank you Mary J for your kind words and your helpful hints on the challenges. I guess I failed this one but ya know that is okay. I tried something new. Forced myself out of the red box and tried a new combo. I never would have tried to put those two together before and now I have as closely as I can with what I had.
Maybe the next one will be colors I have on hand.
